Probably the shortest way for you to reach Johor Bahru is to hop on a train from Singapore to Johor Bahru. The service goes by the name of the Shuttle Tebrau Service (KTMB) and will take passengers from Woodlands station to Johor Bahru Sentral station. The Shuttle Tebrau service has been operational since 1st July, 2015 and goes between Singapore and Malaysia 7 times a day.

The KTMB shuttle train has replaced the local intercity train between Singapore and Malaysia, is much more developed, and a lot faster. Since the Intercity train from Woodlands is no longer functional, you’ll have to take the new shuttle train in order to get to the Johor Bahru Sentral station. The first train departs from the Woodlands Station in Singapore at 6:30 am and you can reach Johor Bahru at 6:35 am. The last train leaves 11:00pm, dropping the passengers at 11:05 pm. In between, the train sets off for Johor Bahru at 8:00 am, 9.30 am, 5:00 pm, 6:30 pm, and 8:00 pm a One way ticket from Singapore will cost you S$5 per person. In a two way trip i.e. Woodlands – Johor Bahru – Woodlands the price becomes two-fold i.e. S$10. Children aged four years and below are exempted from charges which means they can travel for free. Another thing which must be kept in mind is that the ticket cannot be reused if you have missed the train. If you have bought tickets in advance, but were unable to catch the train because of postponement of other train services, your money will go to waste and a new Shuttle Tebrau ticket will have to be purchased.
